DOHA: The Asian Shotgun Championship 2026 will get underway on Monday at the Lusail International Shooting Complex, bringing together 196 male and female marksmen from 17 countries for a week of top-level competition.
The championship will run until January 21 and will feature contests in skeet and trap across men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ categories. Qatar will be represented by a 12-member squad including Rashid Saleh, Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Reem Al Sharshani, Ali Ishaq, Mohammed Al Kuwari, Saeed Abu Shareb, Angelo Scalzoni and Ray Basil.
An official opening ceremony will be held on Monday evening at Lusail Hall at the Qatar Olympic Committee, attended by HE Sheikh Salman Al Hamoud Al Sabah, President of the Asian Shooting Confederation, alongside officials from the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association and representatives of participating nations.
The programme begins with formal skeet rehearsals on Monday, while youth competitions will start on Tuesday. Skeet events for men and women, including qualifying rounds, youth finals and mixed team competitions, will take place from Wednesday to Friday.
Trap competitions will follow, starting with official rehearsals on January 17, qualifying rounds on January 18 and 19, youth finals on January 19, and finals for men, women and mixed teams on January 20. The championship will conclude with the mixed team trap final on January 21.
