MEXICO CITY: A decade of racing in Mexico City has turned the vibrant capital into Formula E’s benchmark venue, according to series co-founder Alberto Longo, as the all-electric championship prepares to stage its 150th race on Saturday.
The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, a near-constant presence on the calendar since Formula E’s early seasons, has become a barometer for the series’ growth and global appeal. Longo hailed Mexico as a model host, praising the passion of local fans and the event’s evolution into one of the championship’s flagship races.
He also credited Formula One star Sergio “Checo” Perez for elevating motorsport’s profile nationwide, further energising the racing culture.
Adding to the intrigue, the last three Mexico City winners have gone on to claim the title that same season, raising the stakes for defending champion Oliver Rowland, who returns to a circuit that has already played a defining role in his success.
