DOHA: Al Gharafa returned to winning form with a 3-2 victory over Umm Salal on Tuesday, as the twelfth round of the Doha Bank Stars League for the 2025–26 season got under way.
The win came after Al Gharafa suffered a surprise setback in the previous round, when they were beaten 3-0 by Al Shahaniya.
Al Gharafa took control early, with Jamal Hamad scoring twice in the first half. He opened the scoring in the fifth minute before adding a second deep into stoppage time at the end of the half (45+5). Romanian winger Florinel Coman extended the lead in the 79th minute.
Umm Salal mounted a late comeback, reducing the deficit in the 86th minute through Croatian Antonio Mansi before Spaniard Cristo González struck three minutes later, but Al Gharafa held on to secure all three points.
