Doha, January 5 — Umm Salal head coach Patrice Carteron and Al Gharafa’s Pedro Martins have underlined the importance of their teams’ upcoming Qatar Stars League clash, with both sides targeting a vital three points in Tuesday’s 12th-round fixture.
Speaking ahead of the match, Carteron described the encounter as a demanding test, stressing that Umm Salal are determined to build on the momentum from their recent victory over Al Ahli. The French coach said his side is fully prepared and focused on improving their position in the league standings.
Al Gharafa coach Pedro Martins echoed the challenge, particularly after his team’s setback against Al Shahania in the previous round. The Portuguese tactician said a win was essential to restore confidence and reaffirm the league leaders’ authority, adding he trusts his players to respond with a strong performance.
Al Gharafa top the table with 25 points, four clear of Al Shamal, while Umm Salal sit 10th on nine points, making the clash significant for both ends of the standings.
