RIYADH: Al Shahaniya camels clinched their first-ever titles at the tenth King Abdulaziz Camel Racing Cup as competitions at the Al Sayahid Track on Saturday drew a record number of participants from across the GCC states. The landmark achievement underlined the rising standard and growing popularity of camel racing in the region.
The main opening race produced fierce competition, with standout performances reflecting the high level of preparation and competitive spirit among the contenders. Fans were treated to thrilling finishes as the leading camels battled closely for supremacy.
Female and male camel competitions were staged over a 5-kilometre distance, comprising eight races in total, including four prestigious cup races and four open races. The well-structured programme further strengthened the competitive platform and promoted excellence within the sport.
Qatari camels also dominated the seventh and eighth races, reaffirming the nation’s prowess in camel racing and highlighting the continued growth and development of the sport across the Gulf.
