ADELAIDE: Travis Head produced a commanding unbeaten 142 to put Australia firmly in control of the third Test against England, guiding his side to 271 for four at stumps on Day 3 at Adelaide Oval. Head’s authoritative innings, laced with confident strokeplay, helped Australia extend their overall lead to a daunting 356 runs.
Alex Carey provided excellent support late in the day, remaining not out on 52 as the pair consolidated Australia’s dominance after early wickets. Their unbroken stand frustrated England and tilted the contest further in the hosts’ favour heading into the final stages.
Earlier, England showed resilience in their first innings through captain Ben Stokes, who struck a fighting 83, while Jofra Archer added valuable runs with a fluent 51. Despite their efforts, England were bowled out for 286, conceding an 85-run first-innings deficit that left them chasing the game as Australia tightened their grip on the match.
