The opening matches of the ninth round of the General Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season, held on the evening of Monday, December 15, 2025, featured two strong encounters that resulted in victories for Al Ahli over Al Khor and Qatar Club over Al Gharafa.
In the first match, Al Ahli continued its strong performances and achieved a big win over Al Khor with a score of 118–94.
Al Khor appeared strongly in the first quarter (27-26), then Al Ahli returned to its level in the second quarter (33-11), and continued its dominance in the third quarter (32-25), while the fourth quarter went to Al Khor (31-27).
Jesse Jones Jr., the Al Khor player, was the top scorer in the match with 37 points, while Nigel Armoni Johnson was the top scorer for Al Ahli with 26 points.
With this victory, Al Ahli raised its tally to 10 points, while Al Khor reached 8 points in ninth place.
In the second match, Qatar Club achieved a deserved win over Al Gharafa with a score of 111–99, in a competitive and intense encounter. Qatar Club succeeded in turning the tide after a close start, benefiting from its dominance in the second quarter, before sealing the match with a 12-point difference.
Al Gharafa delivered a strong performance in the first quarter (23-19), then Qatar Club took control of the second quarter (33-18), before Al Gharafa came back strongly in the third quarter (26-24), and then Qatar Club decided the fourth quarter in its favor (35-32).
With this result, Qatar Club secured its first victory in the competition, raising its tally to 9 points, while Al Gharafa’s tally reached 10 points.
Joshua Morris Nicholas, the Qatar Club player, was the top scorer in the match with 33 points, while Rashad Allen Williams was the top scorer for Al Gharafa with 29 points.
The ninth round is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, December 20, 2025, with the matches between Al Wakrah and Al Arabi, and Al Sadd and Al Rayyan, while Al Shamal Club will have a rest from playing in the ninth round.
