Doha – December 14, 2025:
The ninth round of the General Basketball League championship for the 2025-2026 sports season kicks off on the evening of Monday, December 15, 2025. This highly anticipated round promises a new battle for the top positions amid close point tallies among several teams and intensifying competition as the season progresses.
The round begins with two matches at the Federation Hall. At 6:00 PM, Al Khor will meet Al Ahli in a clash where both teams aim to strengthen their positions in the standings. Al Khor enters the game seeking to improve its ranking, while Al Ahli hopes to continue its progress and close the gap with the mid-table teams.
Attention then turns to the second match at 8:00 PM, featuring Qatar Club against Al Gharafa. This encounter is particularly sensitive for both sides, as each seeks to secure all three points to boost their chances in the competition.
The ninth round continues on Saturday, December 20, 2025, with two strong fixtures. In the first, Al Wakrah faces Al Arabi in a match of great importance to both teams—Al Wakrah aims to solidify its place among the front-runners, while Al Arabi looks to maintain pressure on the league leaders.
The second match sees Al Sadd take on Al Rayyan in the round’s headline fixture, which attracts widespread interest due to the strength of both teams and their history of competing for titles.
Al Shamal Club will have a rest week in this round and may benefit from the results of its direct rivals for mid-table positions.
Al Rayyan currently tops the league standings with 13 points from seven matches, maintaining its position at the summit. Al Arabi occupies second place with 12 points from six matches, level with Al Sadd in third, who have also played seven games.
Al Wakrah sits fourth with 11 points, tied with Al Shamal in fifth. Al Ahli is sixth with 10 points, followed by Al Gharafa in seventh with 9 points, Al Khor in eighth with 8 points, and Qatar Club in ninth with 7 points.
