DOHA: Waleed Azaro found the net in the 79th minute to hand Morocco a 1-0 victory over Syria in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 at Khalifa International Stadium on Thursday.

Moroccon midfielder Mohammed Moufid, who came on as a substitute in the 87th minute, was sent off in the first minute of injury time in the second half. But the FIFA World Cup semifinalist from 2022 held onto its lead through the eight minutes of added time and advanced to the last four.

Palestine takes on Saudi Arabia in the second quarterfinal later on Thursday. The other two quarterfinals will be played on Friday, between Jordan and Iraq and Algeria and UAE.
