DOHA: The Qatar Air Sports Committee (QASC) on Tuesday honored the members of the Parachuting Display Team after their recent achievement was officially recognized as a Guinness World Record. The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 47th World Parachuting Championship (CISM 2025), currently underway in Doha.
The Qatari team earned global acclaim by organizing the largest military parachute fireworks display, featuring synchronized parachute firework formations conducted in line with international standards. The record-setting event, held last August in Zephyr Hills, USA, involved 37 jumpers carrying a combined pyrotechnic payload of 55.89 kg.
HE Brig. Gen. Mohammed bin Zayed Al Otaibi, Commander of the Joint Special Forces and Chair of QASC, and Lt. Col. Abdullah Saeed Al Mansouri, Vice Chairperson of QASC, attended the ceremony. Gold medals and certificates were awarded to the team members, marking the fifth Guinness World Record achieved by the squad and reinforcing their status as exceptional ambassadors in global arenas.
Meanwhile, the organizing committee announced the postponement of Tuesday’s competitions due to unstable weather conditions that prevented pilots and skydivers from completing their attempts on the tournament’s fourth day. Events are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, provided weather conditions improve.
