FUJAIRAH,UAE: The Qatari men’s national team booked their place in the final of the Fujairah International Teams Tennis Tournament in the United Arab Emirates, following a series of spirited performances against tough regional opponents.
Eight countries are competing in the event – Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Iran and Syria – with the Qatari side represented by players Musa Shanan, Mubarak Shanan and Ghanem Al Sulaiti, under the guidance of coach Munir Al Araj.
Qatar advanced from the group stage after securing two crucial wins. They edged Bahrain 2-1 and followed it up with another 2-1 victory over hosts UAE. Despite a 0-3 defeat to Jordan in their final group match, the team finished second and sealed their spot in the semifinals.
Determined to reach the title clash, Qatar delivered another strong display in the semis, overcoming Iran 2-1 to set up a rematch with Jordan in the final.
Khalid Al Khulaifi, Chairman of the National Teams Committee at the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel, and Badminton Federation, praised the players for their high-level performances and fighting spirit, emphasizing the positive impact their success has on the continued growth of Qatari tennis.
