Doha: Qatar’s basketball fans are gearing up for an electrifying evening on Monday, October 13, 2025, as the inaugural Qatar Basketball Super Cup tips off at the state-of-the-art Lusail Multipurpose Arena. The tournament marks a historic start to the 2025-2026 season, featuring four of Qatar’s top basketball clubs: Al Arabi, Al Rayyan, Al Sadd, and Al Ahli.
The action-packed event begins at 5:30 PM with a semi-final clash between Al Rayyan and Al Ahli, followed by a heavyweight showdown between Al Sadd and Al Arabi at 7:30 PM.
The winners will advance to the final on Wednesday, October 15, at 6:30 PM, where the first-ever Qatar Super Cup champion will be crowned.
Organized by the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), the Super Cup introduces a dynamic new competition to the local sports calendar.
The tournament aims to enhance the competitiveness of domestic clubs, elevate technical readiness ahead of the season, and add excitement to the basketball landscape in Qatar. It brings together the champion and runner-up of last season’s Amir Cup (Al Rayyan and Al Arabi) and the third- and fourth-placed teams in the league (Al Sadd and Al Ahli), ensuring a high level of competition to kick off the season.
Al Arabi enters the tournament with strong momentum after securing third place in the 37th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship held recently in Dubai, building on their title-winning performance in the 36th edition.
Al Rayyan, a formidable contender, showcased impressive form in the same championship despite a quarter-final exit, making them a top pick for the Super Cup title. Al Sadd aims to leverage their technical stability to reclaim championship glory, while Al Ahli is determined to make a statement and potentially upset the favorites in a tournament where all four teams are closely matched.
