NEW DELHI: World Championship medalists Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will spearhead India’s campaign at the Arctic Open 2025, which begins in Vantaa, Finland, on Tuesday. The BWF Super 500 event will see several top shuttlers in action as players continue to chase crucial ranking points.
Lakshya Sen, a semifinalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will look to go one better after reaching his first final of the year at the Hong Kong Open last month. However, the Indian ace will be eager to bounce back from his early exit at the China Masters, which marked his ninth first-round loss of the season.
Former world number one Kidambi Srikanth, meanwhile, will aim to build on his encouraging recent form. The veteran reached the semifinals of the Al Ain Masters last week and had earlier finished runner-up at the Malaysia Masters in May.
Rising star Ayush Shetty, India’s only BWF World Tour title winner this year after his US Open triumph in June, faces a tough opening-round clash against Paris 2024 silver medallist Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
With a blend of experience and youthful promise, India’s men’s singles contingent will look to make a deep run in Finland and regain their winning rhythm on the world stage.
