SINGAPORE: While McLaren celebrated another constructors’ championship and Mercedes’ George Russell claimed his first Singapore Grand Prix victory on Sunday, Ferrari’s woes continued in a race riddled with technical troubles.
Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton battled brake issues throughout the evening at Marina Bay, leaving the Italian team far off the pace of their rivals. Leclerc salvaged sixth place, while Hamilton finished eighth after incurring a five-second penalty for repeatedly exceeding track limits.
“We don’t have the race car to fight with the guys in front,” Leclerc admitted. “McLaren, Red Bull, and now Mercedes are all on the same level — and then there’s us.”
With just six races left in the 2025 season, Ferrari remain winless and locked in a struggle to compete for second place in the constructors’ standings. Despite high hopes following Hamilton’s arrival, the seven-time world champion has yet to claim a podium-topping finish for his new team.
Team principal Fred Vasseur described the brake problems as “a surprise” and voiced frustration over Ferrari’s continued lack of progress. For the Scuderia, what began as a season of promise is fast becoming one of introspection and missed opportunities.
