WREXHAM: Wrexham and Birmingham City battled to a 1-1 draw in their much-hyped “Hollywood derby” on a stormy night in north Wales on Friday.
George Dobson fired Wrexham ahead early, lifting the home crowd as the club’s remarkable journey from non-league to the Championship under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continued to capture attention.
But Birmingham, backed by NFL great Tom Brady as a minority stakeholder, struck back almost immediately after the break through Patrick Roberts. Despite pushing for more, both sides ultimately had to settle for a point.
Birmingham chairman and co-owner Tom Wagner watched from the away end but saw no winner to celebrate. The result leaves Wrexham 14th and still chasing their first home win of the campaign, while Birmingham sit in 11th after a steady start to life back in the Championship.
