Doha: The Universities Rapid Chess Championship for the 2025–2026 sports season, organized by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation in cooperation with the Qatar Chess Federation, concluded at the Community College sports hall.
In the men’s individual competition, Mahjoub Mohammed Mahjoub from Doha University of Science and Technology secured first place with 9 points.
His teammate Mohannad Hussein Mohammed came in second, while Youssef Al-Janahi from Qatar University finished third.
In the women’s individual competition, Sana Noor Kartel from Qatar University won first place.
Victoria Honordiz from Doha University of Science and Technology claimed second place, and her colleague Ghalia Al-Nuaimi came third.
At the team level for men, Doha University of Science and Technology ranked first, Qatar University second, and Community College third.
In the women’s team championship, Doha University of Science and Technology took first place, Qatar University came second, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University placed third.
Mohammed Al-Mudhahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation, emphasized that the tournament was held under the rapid chess system and featured outstanding competition among all teams and participants.
He noted that chess contributes to developing the cognitive and intellectual skills of students, stressing the federation’s commitment to strengthening ties with all sports federations.
In conclusion, Al-Mudhahka praised the strong cooperation with the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation and affirmed that the Chess Federation seeks to organize championships on a regular basis to promote the culture of chess within universities.
