DOHA: President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and President of Lusail International Circuit, Abdulrahman bin Abdullatif Al Mannai, affirmed that the Qatar 1812km race, which served as the opening round of the 2025 World Endurance Championship, was a resounding success on all fronts.

In a statement, Al Mannai said: “We are delighted with the success of the second edition of the Qatar 1812km race, both in terms of organization and technological advancements. It was a pleasure to host all the teams, drivers, and fans at the Lusail International Circuit in a spectacular event that further cements our status as a premier hub for motorsport development in the region.”

He added: “These achievements are a testament to the tireless efforts of various stakeholders, including the Lusail International Circuit, the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation, and the dedicated volunteers who worked relentlessly alongside numerous Qatari institutions and ministries.” Speaking on local participation, Al Mannai expressed pride in the strong Qatari presence at the event. “We are particularly pleased with the impressive performances of Qatari drivers in the accompanying races held on the sidelines of the Qatar 1812km race. Developing homegrown talent in motorsports remains one of our top priorities,” he said.

As part of the event, QMMF and Qatar Motor Academy drivers had the opportunity to tour the Peugeot team garage, gaining valuable insights into the world of endurance racing.

Al Mannai also underscored the significance of such global championships in nurturing Qatari drivers. He emphasized that competitions like the Formula 4 Middle East Championship provide an invaluable platform for young talents to gain experience.

“Seeing Qatari drivers compete alongside international professionals reaffirms our commitment to fostering local talent and building a sustainable motorsports ecosystem in Qatar for future generations,” he concluded.

The Lusail International Circuit hosted the Qatar 1812km race over three days as the opening round of the 2025 World Endurance Championship, sanctioned by the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The event featured elite endurance drivers from around the world, further enhancing Qatar’s reputation as a global motorsport destination. (QNA)
