Asian snooker: Qatar’s Ali Al Obaidli qualifies for last 8

DOHA: Qatar’s Ali Al Obaidli on Monday beat Thailand’s Passakorn Suwannaw at4-3 to qualify for the quarterfinals at the Asian Men’s Snooker Championship.

The tournament is being organized by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation.

A total of 43 players are representing 19 countries in the tournament, which concludes on Wednesday (March 17).

The match was strong on the part of the players, as Al-Obaidli started with a 2-0 lead, but his Thai opponent returned in the match and won three consecutive games and advanced 3-2.

Al-Obaidli regained his chances in the match after he tied the score 3-3 and then managed to win the decisive set 4-3.

Al-Obaidli will meet Myanmar’s Aung Phyo, who also qualified after defeating his Iranian counterpart Ali Roshanikia 4-0, today.
