DOHA (Qatar): Al Duhail overcame Al Khor 29-28 in a final-round thriller to win the Qatar Handball League title at the Al Duhail Indoor Hall on Sunday evening.
Wakrah led the rankings with 45 points before the 18th and final round while Duhail were second with 44 points.
Al Arabi were in the third spot with a point below Duhail, making the final round a thrilling three-way battle for the prestigious title.
However, Duhail’s victory and Wakrah’s 25-28 defeat against Arabi meant the hosts sealed the title with Wakrah came third behind Arabi (43 points).
Earlier, Al Gharafa beat Al Shamal 32-26 to finish in fourth place on Saturday while Al Rayyan defeated Al Sadd 26-17 to finish fifth. Al Ahli finished sixth following a 37-19 win over Qatar SC.
