Doha – November 1, 2025:
The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) launched the 2025-2026 season of its Budding Talents Festival on Saturday morning, November 1, 2025, in a vibrant event held at the federation’s hall starting at 10:30 a.m. Approximately 140 young players from nine clubs participating in the national basketball league took part, including Al Rayyan, Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Arabi, Al Ahli, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Al Khor, and Qatar SC. The event drew attendance from QBF board members, coaches, and players’ parents.
The Budding Talents Festival serves as a cornerstone of the QBF’s strategy to advance basketball development, emphasizing the identification and refinement of promising talents in early age groups. It aligns with a long-term plan to cultivate a robust player base capable of representing national teams in the future, while elevating Qatar’s basketball profile regionally and across Asia.
Ahmad Yusuf Al-Darwish, Assistant Secretary-General and Chairman of the QBF Competitions Committee, stated: “This season’s Budding Talents Festival marks the first official gathering for players as the new 2025-2026 season begins, reflecting the federation’s strong commitment to building the sport from its foundations. We believe in nurturing a new generation of athletes equipped with the skills and experience needed to compete against top regional and continental teams.”
Al-Darwish added: “Through this festival and our future initiatives, the federation aims to introduce ongoing events and training programs targeting emerging talents, with a focus on honing their technical and mental abilities. We have a clear vision and a comprehensive long-term plan to secure a bright future for Qatari basketball.”
The festival featured competitive activities and contests overseen by the QBF’s technical committee and specialized youth coaches, creating an engaging environment that blends enjoyment with technical and physical development. This approach helps young players acquire essential skills and experience at an early stage.
The QBF remains dedicated to enhancing its technical and educational programs, which prioritize skill-building, tactical intelligence, and on-court discipline. This forms part of a broader strategy to elevate Qatari basketball standards and ensure sustained success.
Notably, the Budding Talents Festival is a key milestone in the sporting calendar, attracting intensive participation from basketball clubs and federation leaders. It focuses on scouting talents and providing them with technical and training support to establish a solid foundation for the sport in Qatar.
